At Lil’ Dente, we believe that healthy habits start early. Our pediatric dental hygiene education program empowers children and parents with the tools and knowledge they need to keep smiles strong and cavity-free. From brushing basics to nutrition tips, we make learning about dental health fun, engaging, and age-appropriate for every child. We demonstrate proper techniques during dental visits and encourage positive routines at home. Our goal is to build confidence and set the foundation for a lifetime of excellent oral health.
Tooth decay is one of the most preventable childhood conditions, and yet it remains one of the most common. Proper hygiene habits can stop cavities before they start. Teaching kids early builds a strong foundation for a lifetime of better oral health. That’s why early education plays a central role in pediatric preventive dentistry, helping families avoid dental problems before treatment is ever needed.
At Lil’ Dente, we guide children through fun, interactive hygiene lessons in a supportive environment. Our pediatric dentist in Darien, CT uses age-appropriate language, visuals, and demonstrations to help kids learn proper techniques, and feel proud to use them at home. We also provide parents with tips to reinforce good habits between visits.

Dr. Naomi became a pediatric dentist and opened Lil' Dente Pediatric Dentistry to make a lasting difference in children's lives. As an undergraduate student at Wellesley College, she volunteered on international dental missions and discovered a deep passion for children's oral health. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine with two honors - community health and research - and completed her residency in children's dental care at NYU Langone Health in Brooklyn. Before long, she was practicing in Connecticut which is when her dream of Lil' Dente Pediatric Dentistry was born. Lil' Dente Pediatric Dentistry is an extension of her joy and belief of creating a place where your kiddo can experience joy, comfort and the "can't wait to come back feeling" at the dentist.

At Lil’ Dente, we go beyond checkups, we educate, motivate, and empower every child who walks through our doors. Our pediatric dentist specializes in age-appropriate oral hygiene guidance that makes kids feel confident and capable. We tailor lessons to each child’s personality, learning style, and specific dental needs.
Our friendly, gentle approach turns oral hygiene into a positive experience rather than a chore. Parents leave informed, children leave excited, and healthy habits follow your family home. With us, education isn’t just a service, it’s part of our mission to raise a generation of strong, healthy smiles.
We use engaging visuals, interactive models, and real-time demonstrations to teach good hygiene. Each session is designed to match your child’s developmental stage. This helps them better understand and remember healthy techniques.
Children are encouraged with praise, stickers, and rewards that make learning exciting. We celebrate every small success to boost confidence. This makes kids feel good about brushing and flossing every day.
We involve parents in the learning process to ensure habits continue at home. Our pediatric dentist offers clear guidance on brushing, flossing, and supervision. We’re always here to answer questions and share helpful tips.
After the session, families receive printed guides and helpful tips to continue good habits at home. We follow up during future visits to reinforce routines and celebrate progress. This ongoing monitoring is often supported by tools such as pediatric digital X-rays, which help us track oral health changes as children grow.
We start with a personalized hygiene lesson based on your child’s age and comfort level. Our pediatric dentist explains the “why” behind brushing and flossing in easy-to-understand terms. This sets the stage for a positive and engaging experience.
Using models, mirrors, and real toothbrushes, kids practice techniques with help from our dental team. Hands-on learning makes hygiene more fun and easier to remember. We guide them gently, building skills and confidence along the way.

A dental hygienist plays a key role in preventive oral health care. They clean teeth, remove plaque and tartar, take dental X-rays, screen for oral health concerns, and educate patients on proper brushing, flossing, and overall dental hygiene. Hygienists also work closely with dentists to help prevent gum disease and tooth decay.
To become a dental hygienist, you must complete an accredited dental hygiene program and earn a degree, typically an associate degree. After graduation, candidates are required to pass national and state licensing exams before practicing. Licensing requirements may vary slightly depending on the state.
Most dental hygiene programs take about two to three years to complete. This timeframe includes classroom instruction, hands-on clinical training, and preparation for licensing exams. Some programs may take longer if pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
Dental hygienists typically earn an associate degree in dental hygiene from an accredited program. Coursework includes anatomy, dental science, radiography, periodontology, and clinical practice. Some hygienists choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree for expanded career opportunities.
